Hard to believe that the entire month of January has come and gone already! Sometimes the way time passes really just amazes me. Lets just start with the fact that it’s 20friggin20. How did that happen? I supposed I should really pay more attention to time and what’s going on, but I really don’t want to. The blissful ignorance of being happy is enough to keep me going day in and day out.
As for you all, I wonder if any of you have the same issues keeping up with time like me. Luckily, I have a very smart phone that as long as I tell it to remind me (usually at least a week in advance) it does and I can manage to keep appointments and travel dates.
I have a huge year ahead of me here. Between a trip to Vegas in March, opening the new club in south side, the cabin trip at the end of this month, hopefully Iceland and Norway in the fall and possibly Puerto Rico sometime in the fall as well, my year is pretty stacked.
Something that I am really looking forward to happens in two weeks, though. Some of our employees and myself are going to tour the Jack Daniel’s cooperage in Trinity, Alabama. A cooperage is where they construct barrels. Jack Daniel’s is the only whiskey distiller that actually makes their own barrels. They have two cooperages. One is in Kentucky and is about 3 times the size of the second one, which is here in Alabama.
I took this tour a few years ago before they were set up to give tours and were not open to the public. I am still not sure if they are open to the public just yet, but they sent me an invite and asked me to gather some bar folks and hop in a van for a day of education about barrel making, whiskey tasting and delightful lunch. Who am I to argue?
I will be posting all sorts of vids and pictures on the blog afterwards on either Feb. 18th or 19th. Stay tuned.

We have a cajun browned butter pasta with andouille sausage this week for pasta night. It is just the right amount of spice and you get it with chicken or sausage. Decadent, delicious and awesome.

Starting Wed we are doing, what I call, the harvest burger. Candied bacon, crisp apples, goat cheese and red wine jam make this a burger for the record books. So rich. So sweet. So savory. I really can’t wait to have one tomorrow. Pictures will definitely be on Instagram and Facebook.
Thanks to you all for making the Messy Marty and the sweet potatoes fries a huge hit. Also big thanks to those of you who tried the new creme brulee. We listened and have made the appropriate fixes and it’s back on the specials sheet in its final form.
Your weekly opinion piece from me; I went to the Sidewalk theater downtown last night to check out a flick that I had heard amazing things about but was doubtful. Boy was I wrong.
Color Out Of Space (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5073642/?ref_=fn_al_tt_2) is quite possibly the best movie I have seen in a decade. Are there a few things wrong with it, of course. Do the few things that are wrong with it bother me in the slightest, nope. Being an H.P. Lovecraft fan, I had not seen an adaptation of his work that didn’t suck. Until now.
It was an utter surprise. I saw it with my buddy Rodger and both of us got up at the end of the movie and walked out amazed by what we saw. It does have Nicolas Cage which didn’t inspire me with the most confidence but he did incredibly well. It is a science fiction horror movie though, so if that isn’t your thing then this movie is not for you. It has been about 24 hours since I saw it and I keep trying to find another way to see it before it leaves the theater because I know it will not show anywhere else in town.
Well, that is all the news that is fit to print from me. Hope to see you all soon and please be safe out there.
Ever your servant,
Berkley
