Sometimes… Yes Is The Only Answer

Tini tried to talk her way out of going with Marsha and myself to the United Johnson Brothers wine, beer and liquor expo. It didn’t work.

as blurry as her eyes

I had a great video of the food, but it was apparently too big to upload (grrr), so I’ll just tell you; the food spread was amazing. A delicious charcuterie board with smoked meats and stinky cheeses. Then there were some hot dishes including a pasta and meat dish, a creamed mushroom and pasta dish, steamed shrimp, and build your own ribeye sandwiches and an entire table devoted to desserts.

The beautiful part about the event is that is wasn’t just relegated to wine and a few beers. There were energy drinks, beer, wine

And my favorite, WHISKEY!

with some new flavored vodka that we will probably be ordering and a new amaretto

So, needless to say, we had a great time day drinking and eating with some of our favorite reps. So we want to give a special thanks to United Johnson Brothers (https://ujbal.com/) for giving us a great Tuesday and keeping us supplied with lots of the best beer, wine and spirits.

There are a great many things that I do not understand on this planet like, what are tectonic plates made out of, magnets, dinosaurs turning into oil, parking on driveways and driving on parkways, but those are topics for another time.

I have just learned to accept that certain coincidences are always going to happen and whether they make sense or not, they never-the-less will continue to occur.

The specific coincidence I am referring to happened to me. Within one week, 2 different people, who do not know each other, and I have not spoken to in over a year, both sent me an old picture (10+ years for each) of me. Not super strange, but what really makes it peculiar is that both of those pictures were taken on my mothers birthday in different years. And they each only sent the one picture.

Why was I not hanging out with my mother on her birthday? I swear that I am not that much of a bad son. I always wish my mom happy birthday at midnight on her birthday and yet somehow, I was clearly doing other things on her actual birthday.

My Rojo family from 2009. I still love and miss these guys and gals. That was one of my favorite times of my life.

I posted the other one a few weeks ago and didn’t even put much thought into it until I noticed the timestamps on them and realized that something was hinkey. Such is the way of the world. It is not meant for me to understand.

Another thing I realized: How much I love coworker/employee/co-owners . Really, I can’t say enough good things about them all as both people and workers. I am far luckier than I deserve to have them and all of the customers that come to both Marty’s locations who have supported us since day one and the ones who just had their first time and swear to come back. I mean, look at this girl here…

Being her best self!

Ok, I am going to wrap this up with another Jake/Berkley collaboration special this week, The Thrice Spiced Burger.

Fried jalapeños, sriracha honey glaze and habanero jack cheese.

I strongly recommend you try it with a shot of our newest tequila,Mi Campo reposado or blanco (https://www.tequilamicampo.com/) and my new favorite beer from Terrapin Brewery out of Atlanta (https://terrapinbeer.com/brew/) Hopped and Bubbly, a collaboration between Miller High Life and Terrapin IPA. So delicious.

We have a fun brunch special too this weekend. We will be doing bacon wrapped in pancakes and have a delightful roasted tomatillo frittata. More details on those things to come by brunch on Saturday and Sunday. Check out Tina Turner’s college sports blog. It has me in stitches every week! https://gm.martysbham.com/blog/

Always your servant,

Berkley
