The header picture is the view from our beach house trip last year. Every week that goes by, I look more and more forward to getting some time off to unplug, when the only worries I have are within my immediate surroundings.
Bear in mind, I do not like the beach. I hate the sand, the saltwater, and the smell. So now you’re asking yourself why I’m so looking forward to this beach trip. It’s because we have the staffs of both bars all in one place and finally get a chance to be together somewhere that no one has to work. One of the worst things about working with your friends is that you only get to see them at work, if you even get to see them then. Our company vacations are more like team-building events that bring us all together and remind us why we do what we do. We love serving others and making people happy.
Among the camaraderie and boardgames and group meals and sandy toes in salty water and strange sleeping places, we have a great time bonding with our Marty’s family.

Another good thing about the beach and vacation is I get to wear the 3 shirts that I own that aren’t either black or blue.

We are about 3/4 of the way from finalizing the new menus and take-out menus. So close to checking off that box that I can almost taste it.
Speaking of tasting it, our special this week is DELICIOUS! The turkey burger is back and this time with an asian-inspired twist. A little teriyaki and some hoisin, some vinegar and a squirt of sriracha make the slaw on the burger the perfect blend of sweet, tangy, spicy, savory, and salty. We also throw some provolone, tomatoes and fresh jalapeños on it to bring it to its apex. Taste and enjoy!

Shameless plug of the week: Jake, our kitchen manager and my Monday movie partner, and I went to see the latest installment in the Fast and the Furious movie world, Hobbs and Shaw.

It was everything I wanted and more. At its core, it’s an action-filled summer blockbuster with tons of on-screen chemistry between Statham and Johnson. Equally as important as great casting, a summer action film has to have a loose plot that unfolds in an unreasonable amount of time and is devoid of any believability of it possibly being real. This movie is full of all the classic tropes of a buddy cop film where the cops are the best (worst?) of frienemies. I laughed out loud a lot, which is not something I typically do at movies. Everything about this movie and its ridiculousness was wonderful. I turned off my brain for 2 hours and 10 minutes and it was one of the most satisfying wastes of my time all week.
Since you’ve made it this far into this very lackluster post, you must be hoping for a hint to one of the trivia questions for Sunday night. Well ok, here it is: do your best to familiarize yourself with all the team names of NFL, NBA, NHL and MLB. That’s as much as I can say, but if you’re not a big sports person, here is your chance to shine!
Don’t forget, we are open Monday nights and do happy prices on domestic beer and well drinks all night.

As always, I am open to suggestions for specials and anything that could improve your experience here with us. Keep those ideas coming!
Humbly your servant,
Berkley
